Slackslider: (noun) [slakslahy-der] – one who idly backslides
I created the word slackslider. If you don’t believe me, you can check UrbanDictionary.com. It’s there.
It seems that life is on a slope… and it’s not in our favor. Infact, you have to keep climbing if you intend to stay put. Sitting still is only rolling (increasingly faster) downwards. Idleness leads to destruction.
Someone who backslides is someone who seems to be stuck in a rutt, consistently falling back on old bad habits, or committing the same offenses, or pursuing the same addictions. I’ve found that backsliding doesn’t only occur when we make the wrong decisions… it just as easily recaptures us through our simple attitude of apathy. When we don’t care to do anything, or when we sit idly by.
I’ve been known to be a slacker… lazy, unmotivated, and apathetic… but as I continue to grow and climb my slope (with help of course) I’ve been able to avoid slacksliding… most of the time.
